Before You Begin the Tour
Welcome to a Virtual Walking Tour of our Lakewood campus. The tour, which begins at the Ninth Street Gate, features color photographs and 360 degree panoramic images.
In order to view the panoramic images, you will need a Java enabled browser, such as Netscape 7 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. Depending on your connection speed, the panoramic images may take a moment or two to fully download so please be patient.
If you do not see a panoramic image in the left box of the screen above, you will probably have to install the Java plug-in. If this is the case, click here to go to the Java web site. Read and follow the instructions shown on the right side of their web page.
Welcome to the GCU Walking Tour
Welcome to Georgian Court University--the Mercy University of New Jersey. Our campus is a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Georgian Court is nestled among the northern stretches of the Pine Barrens and bordered on the south by Lake Carasaljo. Situated midway between New York City and Philadelphia, and only 10 miles from the beautiful Jersey Shore, Georgian Court University is a perfect academic and cultural setting. Our 150-acre campus was the former estate of millionaire George Jay Gould and was acquired by the Sisters of Mercy, the university's sponsors, in 1924.
Today the campus features a blend of historic and contemporary buildings, pine forest, vast manicured lawns, flower and shrub-filled gardens, and porcelain, bronze, and marble statuary.
We invite you to come and tour our campus in person, but if you can't get away right now, please take our Virtual Tour. Hope to see you soon!
The Ninth Street Gate (Main Entrance)
With colossal marble and terra cotta piers, the Ninth Street Gate is the main entrance to the campus and serves as a symbol of the university's inviting nature.
The gatehouse is the hub of campus security, greeting you as you enter the Court each day.
