Mercy Hall
Mercy Hall has been developed as a new housing facility for the
campus contingent of the Sisters of Mercy. This two-story
residential building is part of a combined complex with the
attached one-story University Community Chapel.
The residential portion has been developed to accommodate
approximately twenty-eight (28) Sisters of Mercy in single units
with several lounge, visitation and laundry facilities as well
as a central kitchen and dining area. Also included within the
residential component are two (2) apartments for use by visiting
faculty which each include kitchen, living and sleeping quarters
accessible through a private entrance.
The Mercy Hall kitchen and dining area provides a
warm, community atmosphere for the Sisters to come together and
enjoy their meals in an inviting space overlooking the park-like
courtyard. During the warmer weather, the adjoining covered
porch is an area where the residents may relax and socialize
with the student residents of the nearby St. Catherine and Maria
Halls.
The main lounge in Mercy Hall is a spacious
relaxing space for the Sisters to enjoy themselves on a cold
winter evening with a fire in the gas fireplace overlooking Lake
Carasaljo. The space affords room to watch television, read a
good book or relax in the company of fellow residents and
guests. |
