Formal Garden, Gatekeeper's Lodge, & Seventh Street GateThe Gatekeeper's Lodge, the first building completed for the Gould estate in 1896, is the oldest building on campus. Echoing the architecture of The Mansion, this charming cottage was planned as a gatekeeper’s lodge but was instead used to house the Gould’s butler and his family.
Today, the Lodge is the location of Campus Ministry offices. Situated snugly behind the campus’ walk-in entrance on the corner of Seventh Street and Lakewood Avenue, formerly the estate’s main entry, the Gatekeeper's Lodge is a charming introduction to the Georgian architecture that awaits the visitor to our campus.
