The natural and social science, mathematics, and social work programs have joined forces to break new ground in the discovery of connections among all aspects of life. Using the latest research findings and tools of technology, we begin the adventure of discovery and rediscovery.
The School of Sciences and Mathematics believes that education itself is an exciting and transforming experience. Students develop as learners and leaders through courses in the natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics, and social work, and through interdisciplinary research, service learning, and cocurricular experiences. Students graduate ready to bring their best to the improvement of all humanity.
Mission
The School of Sciences and Mathematics focuses on development of students who are discerning scholars. The school is committed to

- developing model programs that foster learning and motivate discovery in all areas of scholarship;
- increasing the active involvement of women in areas where they are underrepresented;
- encouraging active commitment to issues of economic, political, and social justice both locally and globally;
- increasing interdisciplinary interaction to foster understanding of the interrelatedness of all humankind with each other and with the environment;
- communicating high standards of ethical behavior, scholarship, and respect for others and the environment in which we live; and
- focusing on research and action that will improve the quality of life socially, emotionally, and physically for all humanity and especially for those who have been traditionally ignored.
