Drosera intermedia
Spatulate-leaved Sundew
Droseraceae. 10cm.

One of three species of sundew found in the Pine Barrens. Spatula-shaped green or reddish-green leaf blades are covered with many tiny red hair-like structures, which are in turn covered by a mucilage in which insects are trapped and then digested. White flowers appear in early-mid summer and are borne on a structure separate from the leaves. Looks very similar to Drosera rotundifolia.   Common in wet, peaty soils (e.g., bogs). Photographed at Webbs Mill Bog.
