New Year Brings New Leaders, New Location for GCU at Woodbridge
Woodbridge, N.J., Jan. 14, 2010—Georgian Court University at Woodbridge offers its first 2010 information session for prospective students on Thursday, January 21, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The session will be held at the site’s new location at One Woodbridge Center, Suite 905 on the 9th floor. During the session, advisers will explain the programs offered, provide information on ways to pay for classes, offer online registration, and describe courses you will need to complete your degree.
GCU at Woodbridge’s new site is convenient to the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, Route 287, and Routes 1 and 9. Across the street from its previous location, GCU at Woodbridge’s new home offers convenient and well-lit parking, a student lounge, and four classrooms. In addition, a cafeteria on the fourth floor of the building is available to students.
GCU at Woodbridge offers the following programs for busy working adults who want to advance their careers through accelerated or advanced degree programs in business and education:
- Postbaccalaureate 9-Month Teaching Certificate
Already have an undergraduate degree and want to teach? GCU at Woodbridge’s accelerated dual teacher certification program blends theory with field-based applications. Attend classes full time Monday through Thursday and spend Fridays in a district classroom.
- M.A. in Administration and Leadership
Certified teachers can attend evening classes for this master’s program to become eligible for leadership positions from principal to supervisor or school administrator.
- Accelerated Master of Business Administration
Move up the career ladder by finishing 36 credits in one year by attending class every Saturday. You can also earn your degree part time through back-to-back Tuesday evening classes in just 22 months.
In addition to a new location for its Woodbridge site, Dennis Kelly, GCU’s vice president for enrollment management, announced two new key staffers to head up the GCU off-site locations—Richard J. Hamilton, Ed.D., the new administrative dean of GCU off-sites, and Christine M. Sorrento, the new enrollment development specialist of GCU off-sites. “Dr. Hamilton and Ms. Sorrento will oversee all the GCU off-site locations, which include those in Woodbridge, at Communiversity in Wall Township, at Cumberland County College, and at several business, education, and diocesan locations throughout New Jersey,” said Mr. Kelly. “They will be based at the Woodbridge location.”
Richard J. Hamilton, Ed.D., Administrative Dean of GCU Off-Sites
Dr. Hamilton, who resides in Tinton Falls, most recently served as president of Gibbs College in Montclair. At Gibbs College, Dr. Hamilton held diverse roles ranging from educational consultant and associate director in the Office of Testing and Assessment to vice president for academic affairs, acting president, acting dean for university outreach, and dean of the School of Professional and Continuing Studies and Summer Sessions to the most recent titles of vice president of academic affairs and president.
Dr. Hamilton has spent a good portion of his career working at institutions dedicated to serving the adult student through innovative programming and distance learning. He helped establish the School of Professional and Continuing Studies and Summer Sessions at his alma mater, Saint Peter’s College.
Dr. Hamilton holds a B.A. in English Literature from Saint Peter’s College, Jersey City; an M.A. in Environmental Science from Montclair State College, Upper Montclair; and an M.A. and Ed.D. in Adult and Higher Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, New York.
In his new position, Dr. Hamilton will monitor academic programs, supervise recruitment/enrollment development for the off-site locations, and develop relationships with businesses and schools.
Christine M. Sorrento, Enrollment Development Specialist of GCU Off-Sites
Ms. Sorrento, who resides in Freehold, most recently served as Brookdale Community College’s account representative/program administrator in the Center for Business Services. There, she was responsible for the marketing and sales of business training programs to Monmouth County corporations, managing and creating training solutions as their outsourced training provider. Ms. Sorrento also wrote Department of Labor training grants for her clients and worked closely with organizations to develop programs in customer service skills, leadership training, health care training, and many other successful programs. Her business experience includes work with Microsoft Corporation in New York/New Jersey as a corporate marketing representative, where she increased revenue by over 200 percent. She also comes with corporate sales experience from the Computer Factory in NYC’s Wall Street area.
Along with her analytical skills and business experience, Ms. Sorrento holds a B.S. in Business Administration, Marketing/Management from Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
Ms. Sorrento will be responsible for developing relationships with business and education employers and recruiting students for programs being offered at the GCU off-sites.
