Halloween Comes to Georgian Court University
GCU Offers Safe Environment for Kids to Enjoy Halloween
Lakewood, N.J., Oct. 15, 2009—Halloween is a night for carved pumpkins, costumes, and treats. But you don’t have to settle for the same boring routine. Residents of Ocean and Monmouth counties can switch it up this year and enjoy a spooky and safe Halloween at Georgian Court University.
“We live on a main road and barely know our neighbors, so my son can’t really go trick or treating,” said Erin Bonczek, a lecturer in dance at Georgian Court, who participated in the 2008 GCU Annual Halloween Celebration. “Coming here for Halloween, I could rest assured that he could trick or treat in a safe environment, and I don’t have to worry about dealing with strangers. Plus, we loved it so much that we can’t wait to come again this year.”
The university will host this ‘spooktacular’ event from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, in the Casino building on the Lakewood campus. Activities include a ghost walk, haunted house, hayrides, storytelling, and refreshments. Guests will also be able to trick or treat on the first floor of Maria Hall. This event is open to the public, and children of all ages are welcome to take part in the celebration. Costumes are not mandatory but welcomed.
Admission is a donation of non-perishable canned foods. All contributions benefit Catholic Charities, and will be distributed in the Lakewood area to help low-income families. All participants must RSVP by Monday, October 19, to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 732.987.2399.
