New Media Expert Joins Georgian Court
Appointee Brings Valuable Experiences in Design, Production
Lakewood, N.J., Aug. 31, 2009—Web design and development veteran Christopher Weir is Georgian Court University’s new director of Web and electronic communications.
Mr. Weir, who earned a B.A. in Architecture and English at Lehigh University and an M.S. in Communications Packaging Design from the Pratt Institute, is responsible for planning and maintaining www.georgian.edu and its increasing reach across social media platforms like FlickR, Facebook, Twitter, and GCU blogs.
The Oceanport, New Jersey, resident joins GCU’s Marketing and External Affairs Division, where he will also work on the university’s strategic plan for Web site development, standards, and content guidelines.
Mr. Weir, who has more than a decade of experience in online operations, most recently worked at ArcMesa.org, an online content developer that provides continuing education programs for doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals. While there, Mr. Weir worked in Web design, produced streaming media and podcasts, and managed the site’s content.
“Chris Weir brings a wealth of experience in systems administration, art direction, and graphic design to Georgian Court University. We are excited to add him to a talented Web team as we redesign our site to take advantage of social networking and interactive technology,” says Ruth Ann Burns, vice president for marketing and external affairs.
Mr. Weir honed his skills during his years with RoadmasterUSA.com, Becker-Jani Advertising, and Architectural Record Magazine. As a freelance art director, Mr. Weir worked with such clients as Roche Pharmaceuticals, Standard & Poor’s, PC Magazine, and Citibank Investment Services.
