GCU Holds Information Session for 9-Month or 18-Month Teacher Certification Program
Lakewood, N.J., Apr. 2, 2009—Georgian Court University will hold an information session for the 9-month full-time or 18-month part-time Postbaccalaureate Teacher Certification program on Wednesday, April 8, at 6:00 p.m. in the Lake House on the historic Lakewood campus. Join us to learn about the various options for individuals with a bachelor's degree who are seeking teacher certification.
In the 9-month full-time program, candidates earn 39 credits over 9 months through two ten-week semesters and 15 weeks of student teaching and, at the end of that period, become eligible for New Jersey teacher certification. Throughout the program, students attend classes Monday through Thursday and spend Fridays in a local district classroom, first observing and then student teaching.
The 18-month part-time program is designed for students who need to work as much as possible while going to school. The course schedule is very manageable for an adult working full time. Classes for the first four semesters are all taught at 7:00 p.m. to accommodate a working schedule. Students can prepare financially to leave their jobs to student teach full time in the fifth semester.
