Lakewood, Jan. 23, 2009—“Guys and Dolls is gusty and uproarious” and “should not be missed” says the New York Times
. This remake of Frank Loesser’s celebrated musical comedy about rolling the dice and falling in love under the bright lights of Times Square is a hit. Georgian Court University will be running a trip to Broadway on Saturday, March 7. Cost is $150 per person and includes orchestra seating for the 2:00 p.m. show, round-trip transportation from the campus (leaving the Seventh Street Gate at 10:00 a.m.) or the Cheesequake rest area (leaving Cheesequake between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.). Also included is a box breakfast and snacks. Lunch is on your own in the city. Call 732.987.2263 for more information and to make reservations.
Two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys) directs a dynamite cast led by Emmy- and Tony-nominee Oliver Platt (Shining City, “Huff”) as good ol’ Nathan Detroit and Golden Globe-nominee Lauren Graham (“Gilmore Girls,” Evan Almighty) as his sniffly fiancée, Miss Adelaide.
The Times said that the “music [is woven] through the evening with the skill of a taxi driver making it through midtown traffic without stopping for lights.” You’ll enjoy such show tune classics as “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat,” “Luck Be a Lady,” and “A Bushel and a Peck.”
