Tickets Make Excellent Valentine’s Day Gift for your Irish (Or Not So Irish) Sweetie!
Lakewood, N.J. Jan. 13, 2009—Ronan Tynan, M.D., known for his unique voice and irresistible appeal, will be performing at the Strand Theater in Lakewood on Saturday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m. for Georgian Court University’s 28th Annual Irish Afternoon celebration.
“The Sisters of Mercy who sponsor Georgian Court were established in Dublin in 1832,” says Mary Cranwell, director of conferences and special events, ”so it was a natural progression for us to establish Irish Afternoon.” Ms. Cranwell, who has been producing this event for the past 28 years, adds, “We like to connect with the Irish-American community at this time of year, and, of course, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.”
Originally a member of the world-famous Irish Tenors, Dr. Tynan launched his solo career in 2004. The New York Times called him “a tenor as Irish as baseball and God Bless America,” and said his “voice is very easy to listen to, effortlessly singing top notes. He has tremendous command of his repertoire.”
Dr. Tynan has sung at a number of prestigious events. Dr. Tynan’s singing offered consolation at the funeral of President Ronald Reagan in 2004. He sang at the White House Governors’ Ball in February 2007 and in 2008 returned to the White House to sing at the St. Patrick’s Day Reception attended by members of the U.S. and Irish governments. He recently performed during the Concert of Hope prior to the Papal Mass in New York in April 2008.
Ticket prices are as follows: $85 for VIP front center orchestra (rows A–H) seats, which includes post-concert meet-and-greet reception with Ronan Tynan; $60 for rear center orchestra (rows J–M), and left and right orchestra seats; $45 for mezzanine and loge seats; and $25 for tier seats. (A $4.00 service charge will be added to the cost of each ticket.) Tickets must be purchased in advance.
