Georgian Court University Holds Information Session for Nine-Month Teaching Certificate Program
Lakewood, N.J., Jan. 13, 2009—Georgian Court University is holding an information session for the Nine-Month Postbaccalaureate Teacher Certificate Program on Thursday, January 22, at 6:00 p.m. in Lake House on the historic Lakewood campus. The program is intended for those who already have a bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Call 732.987.2700 for more information.
This is a full-time program in which candidates earn 39 credits over nine months through two 10-week semesters and 15 weeks of student teaching and at the end of that period become eligible for New Jersey teacher certification. Throughout the program, students attend classes Monday through Thursday and spend Fridays in a local district classroom, first observing, and then student teaching.
“Although this is a quick way to change careers to teaching, the quality of the program is equal to that of Georgian Court’s other education programs,” says Eugene Soltys, director of graduate admissions at GCU. “The demand for qualified teachers remains strong, and the career is an excellent choice for those who have a passion for their subject matter and for helping students achieve their maximum potential.”
