“Solace” Exhibit Comes to Georgian Court University
Lakewood, N.J., Nov. 12, 2008—The work of accomplished photographer and graphic designer Jennifer Sweeney will be on display at Georgian Court University now through November 26, 2008. The exhibit, entitled “Solace: Images of the Contemporary Landscape,” will feature Ms. Sweeney’s pigment prints of nature’s beauty. The exhibit is currently housed in the M. Christina Geis Art Gallery at Georgian Court University.
Ms. Sweeney, a resident of Lakewood, is also a lecturer at Georgian Court University. She holds a M.F.A. in Studio Art from Burren College of Art in Ireland and a B.F.A. in Photography from Parsons School of Design in New York City. During the past five years, her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe, and she has held solo shows in New York and Philadelphia. Her work has been described as conceptually based fine art, which employs the use of both traditional and digital imaging.
“Jennifer Sweeney has a wonderful focus on nature. Through her lens, she captures nature’s beauty in a unique way. The exhibit will offer the viewer a serene and peaceful interlude with the environment and a moment to reflect on the beauty of nature we sometimes take for granted,” says Kathleen Settles, director of the M. Christina Geis Art Gallery.
The gallery, which showcases the work of established and up-and-coming artists, is located in the Arts and Science Center on Georgian Court’s Lakewood campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public during gallery hours, which are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The gallery is closed on weekends. For more information, call Kathleen Settles at 732.987.2388.
