Explore Israel’s History, Archeology, and Cuisine at Georgian Court
Lakewood, N.J., Mar. 26, 2007—From ancient Jericho to modern Israel, explore the wealth of archaeological knowledge that intersects with the contemporary art of this “new” country. Come and explore the universal significance of this land with “Shalom Israel,” a tour of its rich history, arabesque decoration on stone buildings, and modern art on Friday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the North Dining Room on Georgian Court University’s Lakewood campus. You will see Jewish, Christian, and Islamic sites on this armchair exploration while tasting food from these merged cultures.
The Israeli foods served will include matzo ball soup and a cheese noodle kugel. Other dishes might include sweet-and-sour brisket of beef, oven-baked lamb served on a bed of lentils, or breaded chicken cutlet schnitzel served inside a pita with hummus and chopped salad. Top off your meal with a slice of Jewish apple cake and coffee.
This multimedia lecture and multicourse Israeli dinner is the latest in the Adventures for the Mind and Palate series, presentations by Lisa Festa, Ph.D., GCU assistant professor of art, highlighting regional histories and cuisines. The cost is $30 per person, and reservations are required. For further information and reservations, please contact the Office of Conferences and Special Events at 732.987.2263 or email@example.com.
