Georgian Court to Organize Science Career Day
Event will Showcase Job Opportunities in the Natural Sciences
Lakewood, N.J., Mar. 12, 2007—Georgian Court University will host their 15th Annual Science Career Day on Friday, March 23, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the historic Lakewood campus. Formerly held for biology careers only, this year’s event will be expanded to include careers in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and psychology.
“The purpose of the day is to give attendees an opportunity to learn about the diverse careers available in the natural sciences, both through hearing from guest speakers who will explain how they got interested in their career area and the education/training required for the career,” said Helen Thomas, event organizer. “They will also have an opportunity to talk one-on-one with representatives from these areas.”
She explained that several speakers will bring multimedia displays, equipment used in their field, or organisms with which they work so students get a better idea of what the career involves.
“The event will feature at least two speakers from careers in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and psychology,” she said.
Attendees are also welcome to tour Georgian Court University’s state-of-the-art science facilities to better learn about the equipment used in the scientific fields. To be held in the historic Casino building, the event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Helen Thomas at 732.987.2345.
