Not Just Kids: Bullying from the Playground
to the Workplace & Beyond
Cynthia Lowen is the co-filmmaker of
Bully
, the feature
documentary that follows a year in the life
of America’s bullying crisis. Bullying might
begin on the playground, but it doesn’t
disappear when we graduate from high
school. How does bullying today transcend
the schoolyard, following us into our
workplaces, communities, family relations,
and online? In this engaging multimedia
presentation, Ms. Lowen will combine
clips from the documentary, as well as
pop culture references, news stories, and
more to illustrate the key characteristics of
bullying behaviors and long-term patterns
for the target, the bully, and the witness; how to identify
bullying and its impact on our schools, workplaces, and
communities; why bullying is harmful for us in school and
beyond; and how recognizing and preventing bullying
behaviors throughout our communities can create a
positive culture shift.
