Waging Peace: the Peace
Corps Experience
Screening
While Allen Mondell’s film focuses on the Peace Corps
experience, it also examines the value of volunteerism and
the significance of cross-cultural understanding.
Waging
Peace
weaves together the personal letters, journals,
e-mails, and blogs of four Peace Corps volunteers to show
how their experiences shaped their lives. Prior to the
screening, enjoy a short presentation by Donald Yates,
Ed.D., retired GCU associate professor of education
and director of field experience, who is featured in the
documentary.

SummerWriter’s Workshop
Active and aspiring authors are invited to join us for our
third annual weekend of fiction writing workshops, to
ignite the spark for a new project or fan the flame for a
work in progress. Work closely with professional authors
and a literary agent to find inspiration, develop new
writing strategies, and receive manuscript critiques. Past
authors-in-residence have included Lisa Fugard, Teresa
Link, Jon Gibbs, and Toni De Palma.
