Mathematics: Requirements
Major Sequence
Mathematics:
Thirty-three (33) semester hours of credit numbered MA115 or higher are required for the Bachelor of Arts
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in mathematics including:
MA115 116 Calculus I and II
MA215 Calculus III
MA216 Vector Calculus
MA311 312 Introduction to Abstract Algebra I and II
MA401 Introduction to Analysis
In addition CS123 Computer Programming I is required. In their senior year, all mathematics majors are required to take a comprehensive examination approved by the department.
Minor Sequence
Mathematics:
Eighteen semester hours of credit numbered 115 or higher including:
MA115 116 Calculus I and II
Certification as a Teacher of Mathematics:
Students follow the major sequence in mathematics but must also include:
MA321 Foundations of Geometry
MA400 Mathematics for Secondary School Teachers

MA105, MA106, MA107, MA109, MA110 AND MA115
Students intending to enter MA105, MA106, MA107, MA109, MA110 or MA115 must take a departmental examination if they do not have the specified course prerequisite. Placement in these courses will be recommended on the basis of the results of this examination.
