Subject Databases

Biological Abstracts
This is an excellent database for conducting research in the life sciences, as well as providing resources for those with biomedical research needs.  Produced by BIOSIS, Biological Abstracts contains nearly 8 million citations drawn from over 4,000 foreign and domestic journals and grows by over 5% each year.

CINAHL 1982-
Indexes journals in nursing & allied health fields. Also available is Pre-CINAHL A companion database for CINAHL subscribers. Pre-CINAHL provides current awareness of new journal articles.

GreenFILE
A new database produced and provided by EBSCO for people interested in the environment.  Science students wishing to research environmental issues should use this database secondary to Biological Abstracts.  Other students should use Academic Search Premier.

MEDLINE 
The worlds most comprehensive source of life sciences, medicine and biomedical bibliographic information. It contains nearly 11 million records from more than 7,300 different publications dating from 1965-present. Updated weekly.

Pub Med
A service of the National Library of Medicine, this database indexes articles in medicine and psychology.

ScienceDirect 1996-
Full-text of 300+ journals in the sciences, social sciences, psychology & business from Elsevier Science, with indexing and abstracts of more than 700 additional journals.

JSTOR 
Full-image archival database of scholarly journals. The most current issues, 2-5 years, are not included due to publishers' restrictions.

Science
This online version of the journal Science, published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, covers 1997 through present. Items in the "Reports" section exist in full-color PDF format. Other sections may be in PDF or HTML format, depending on the year.

Academic Search Premier- Funded by the New Jersey State Library and the New Jersey Knowledge Initiative    undefined 
Indexes journals covering the social sciences, humanities, education, computer science, ethnic studies and more. Provides full-text articles from more than 3200 scholarly periodicals.

General Science Abstracts
use Wilson OmniFile

Wilson OmniFile 1982-
Abstracts and indexing for over 4,000 periodicals in many subjects. Full-text for over 2,000 periodicals. To search the literature section of the database, click on the arrow to the right of the Subject Area box and select "Humanities.”
