Access & Circulation

Access to the library and use of materials in the building is free and available to all persons, whether or not affiliated with the university. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Borrowing privileges are limited to current Georgian Court University students, faculty, and staff, except as outlined in the brochure, Circulation Policy for Courtesy Card Holders, available at the Circulation or Reference Desk.

Use of the computer lab, databases, the interlibrary loan service, and the materials on reserve for classes is restricted to persons affiliated with the university.

Circulation Policies:

All borrowers must present a valid library card. Students, Faculty and Staff can obtain their cards at the Office of Security. Courtesy cards may be obtained at the Circulation Desk. Courtesy cards are issued to Georgian Court alumni and community borrowers. Individuals are responsible for all items borrowed on their cards, and should not lend the library card or library materials to another person. A card may be used only by the person to whom it was issued, unless special arrangements are made through a Librarian.

Reference books, maps, "Vital History" cassettes, bound periodicals, newspapers, microforms, archives and special collections materials generally do not circulate outside the library. Requests for exceptions should be made to the librarian in charge of the particular collection.

Loan periods vary depending on the type of material and the status of the borrower.

Materials may be renewed if not needed by another patron. Undergraduates with four-week due dates may renew books on-line if the item is not overdue. All other items must be brought to the library in order to renew. All materials are subject to recall after 2 weeks if requested by another patron. Recalled materials are due within 7 days of either a telephone contact or a written request.

The staff can assist with the production of color or black & white transparencies for use with an overhead projector at a nominal fee.

Please submit requests for these items at least 24 hours in advance on the forms available at the Circulation Desk.
