Details

World Languages and Cultures offers a full range of courses to develop reading, writing, and conversational skills in any of the languages offered. Modern language studies also offer programs abroad arranged in conjunction with other colleges.

If the language is a new one for you, choose a basic course that begins with the ABC's. If you have some background already, a brief evaluation will help place you at the level that is best for you. Language minors will gain a satisfying level of proficiency to enhance any chosen field. Language majors will attain an advanced level of proficiency.

The Sister Mary Joseph Cunningham Library also has a selection of foreign-language journals, periodicals, and videos for your enjoyment as well as a comprehensive collection of volumes dealing with every aspect of the language, literature, culture, and civilization in which you are interested.

Small classes and individual attention are the standard. Introductory level courses emphasize usage to help you gain confidence and to build a strong foundation in the language of your choice. Intermediate and advanced courses provide a wide range of subjects covering literature, women's studies, film, and civilization.
