High School Programs for College Credit
Course Ahead / Course Ahead Plus
The Course Ahead Program allows young men and women who are high-achieving high school juniors and seniors and who are capable of meeting an increased challenge, the opportunity to earn college credit through special high school courses.
Georgian Court University has evaluated select courses in participating high schools and has approved the faculty, syllabi, and textbooks for college credit. The teachers participating in Course Ahead have earned advanced degrees and have received adjunct faculty status from the university.
Course Ahead, which is part of the University College, delivers on-site course work through the team efforts of a Georgian Court University faculty member, a secondary school classroom instructor, the students, a secondary school administrator and the Georgian Court University Course Ahead coordinator.
Courses are presently offered through:
Red Bank Catholic High School
Academy of Allied Health and Science
Monsignor Donovan High School
Mount St. Mary Academy |
Manasquan High School
High Technology High School
Asbury Park High School
Allentown High School |
Course Ahead Plus is a new initiative that began in August 2006. Unlike Course Ahead, instructors for these courses are provided by Georgian Court University. Students take the course at their high school. In Spring 2007, Calculus II is being offered at Long Branch High School. Also, Linear Algebra was offered at Shore High School.
