U.N. Day of Peace Prayer Service to Be Held at Georgian Court

Lakewood, N.J., Aug. 30, 2007—Georgian Court University and local community members will observe the United Nations Day of Peace on Thursday, September 20, with a prayer service led by Georgian Court academic advisor Helen Neder, RSM. The event, which will take place at 12:15 p.m. at the GCU Peace Pole on the Lakewood campus, is free and open to the public; no reservations are required.

GCU at Woodbridge to Hold Info Sessions on Select Tuesdays This Fall

Woodbridge, N.J., Aug. 30, 2007—Georgian Court University at Woodbridge will hold information sessions for prospective students on the following Tuesdays: September 11, October 9, November 6, and December 11. Busy working adults who want to advance their careers through accelerated or advanced degree programs in business and education are invited to attend. The sessions will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the GCU at Woodbridge site at 90 Woodbridge Center Drive, Suite 310.

Georgian Court Explores the Genius of Caravaggio

Lakewood, N.J., Aug. 27, 2007—Before Hollywood bad boys were even a possibility, there was Michelangelo Merisi de Caravaggio. A brilliant artist with a violent temper, his work was the subject of renewed interest by both collectors and art scholars in the 20th century. His work will be explored at a multimedia presentation and multicourse dinner on Friday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. as part of Georgian Court’s popular Adventures for the Mind and Palate series.

Georgian Court Gala Is a Black-and-White Affair

Lakewood, N.J., Aug. 24, 2007—There’s nothing wrong with your eyes if Georgian Court University looks monochromatic on Saturday, October 13. It’s simply the university’s annual gala, the Black and White Masked Ball. Proceeds from the annual Gala support Georgian Court’s Scholarship Fund, which helps deserving students achieve their dreams. During the 2006–2007 school year, the university provided more than $7 million in scholarships, loans, and work-study programs to students.

Lakewood, N.J., Aug. 22, 2007—Georgian Court University welcomes soprano Lillian Russell for an unforgettable tea with “Mrs. Gould,” the wife of former Georgian Court owner George Jay Gould, on select dates in September and October. Settle in for an unforgettable tea and experience the Gilded Age at “Mrs. Gould Welcomes Lillian Russell,” the latest entry in GCU’s unique theatrical series, Biographies from The Court.

Fall into the Gardens and Grandeur of the Gilded Age at GCU

Lakewood, N.J., Aug. 21, 2007—Experience local history and beauty this fall with a Tuesday morning tour of the Georgian Court University campus in Lakewood. Guided tours include the historic Mansion, Casino, and McAuley Heritage Chapel, as well as the unique, lush gardens on the campus grounds.

Georgian Court Appoints Dean to School of Education

Lakewood, N.J., Aug. 20, 2007—Georgian Court University has announced the appointment of a new dean of the School of Education. On August 1, Jacqueline E. Kress, Ed.D., former dean of education and professional services at New York Institute of Technology, assumed the post, where she will lead the school’s faculty and oversee undergraduate and graduate programs in pre-service and advanced preparation that prepare Georgian Court students for professional responsibilities as educators.
