PREMEDICAL, PREDENTISTRY, PREVETERINARY, OR PHARMACY

Students may major in chemistry or biochemistry. The students are required to take courses recommended by the professional school of their choice, as part of their curriculum. The professional school admission test such as MCAT, DAT, VCAT or PCAT, should be taken during the junior year.

TEACHER OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE CERTIFICATION WITH A MAJOR IN CHEMISTRY

Students follow the requirements of their chosen sequences—B.A. or B.S. in Chemistry. For Teacher of Physical Science certification, students must have a minimum of 30 credits in chemistry, 12 of which must be at the 300 or 400 level, and 15 credits in physics. Strongly recommended courses are CH301 Chemical Instrumentation, PH227 and PH228 Modern Physics I and II, PH334 Astronomy, and PH337 Physics of Meteorology. For required professional courses in education, please refer to the School of Education section of this catalog.

Minor Sequence in Chemistry

A minimum of 24 hours of credit is required, including:
CH113; 114 General Chemistry I and II
CH223; 224 Organic Chemistry I and II

At least 12 of these credits must be earned at Georgian Court.
