Biblical Institute at Georgian Court Offers a Week of Spirituality
Invitation Is Open to Priests, Deacons, Religious, Lay Ministers, and Students
Lakewood, N.J., March 4, 2008—The Georgian Court University Department of Religious Studies and Theology is offering a unique opportunity for education and enrichment in the Old and New Testaments from Sunday, June 15, to Thursday, June 19. The five-day program, which will take place in the Little Theatre on GCU’s Lakewood campus, will include daily lectures where you will explore, in detail, the Gospel of John and spirituality and prayer in the Psalms. Each day will conclude with a prayer service.
Judith Schubert, RSM, Ph.D., GCU professor of religious studies and theology and biblical scholar will highlight John’s Gospel, presenting aspects of the early Church’s understanding of Jesus. “John, the beloved disciple, will awaken participants to the unique witness of the fourth evangelist through his writings,” says Dr. Schubert.
James Bridges, Ph.D., GCU lecturer in religious studies and a member of the Graduate Theological Union, will enable participants to view the Psalms as both spiritual and challenging. His goal is to help modern believers recognize that the Psalms contain all the concerns that they usually bring before God.
The workshop cost is $275 per person, which includes lunch daily. A $50 deposit is due by April 15. Payment in full is due by May 15. Overnight accommodations, both single and double air-conditioned rooms on campus, are available for an additional fee. Undergraduate/graduate credits and CEUs are available.
