12-30-08: Foley Drains Season-High 29 in Lions' OT Victory vs. STAC

FOLEYPatti Foley (right) (Sr.-Lake Grove, NY) drained a season-high 29 points (13-for-18) in leading the Lions to a thrilling 81-71, overtime victory vs. St. Thomas Aquinas College (3-8) Tuesday afternoon at the Georgian Court University Wellness Center. After losing four straight, Georgian Court (4-7) now rides a two-game winning streak into the New Year.

 

 

 

 

 

12-18-08: Lions Pull off 61-55 Upset at Philadelphia University

GCU logoPhiladelphia, PA-In what automatically qualifies as the signature victory of the Valerie Curtis era thus far, Coach Curtis and her Georgian Court University Lions (3-7, 1-2 CACC) journeyed down to Philadelphia University Thursday evening and escaped with a 61-55 upset of the Lady Rams (4-4, 1-1 CACC).

12-11-08: Coach Kerwin Lanz earns Elite Level 3 Certification with Published Case Study in Techniques Magazine

COACH LANZGeorgian Court University Cross Country coach, Kerwin Lanz (right), has received his Level 3 certification from USA Track and Field in endurance. Lanz was awarded this certification having completed his paper entitled "Mental Training and Cross Country Racing...a case study". The paper was published in the November issue of 'Techniques', a highly respected coaching publication of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (UTFCCCA).

 

 

 

 

12-10-08: Toms River East Star Pitcher, Lyndsey PeQueen, Signs NLI to Play for Lions

Lyndsay PeQueenGeorgian Court University head softball coach, Jeff Franquet, is pleased to announce that Toms River High School East pitching sensation, Lyndsey PeQueen (right), has signed a National Letter of Intent to play her collegiate softball at GCU, commencing with the 2010 season. PeQueen, a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) High School All-American and the 2007 Gatordade Player of the Year, is the winningest pitcher ever to come out of Ocean County with 80 victories through her junior year.

 

 

 

 

 

12-09-08: GCU Struck by Lightning of Goldey-Beacom, 61-53, in CACC Opener

WHITEGeorgian Court University opened the CACC portion of its basketball schedule Tuesday night, falling to the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 61-53, at the GCU Wellness Center. Christina White (right) (Fr.-New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick) garnered her second double-double of the young season, grabbing 10 rebounds and a career-high 14 points, in the losing effort.

 

 

 

 

 

 

12-09-08: Red, White & Gooch ... GCU Senior Earns All-American Honors

Kelly LyonsGOOCHSAN ANGELO, TX-Talk about going out on top! Georgian Court University soccer standout Kat Gooch (Morganville, NJ/St. John Vianney) has enjoyed a senior year for the ages, culminating with her selection as a 2008 Daktronics Second-Team All-American, the first NCAA soccer All-American selection in GCU history. Joining Gooch with All-American accolades is GCU's leading scorer, Kelly Lyons (second right) (Fr.-Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial), who received Honorable Mention.

 

 

 

 

 

 

12-08-08: Casado Named 2008 Daktronics Division II Third-Team All-American

Angie Casado-2008HILLSDALE, MI- Georgian Court University volleyball's Angie Casado (right) (Sr.-Brick, NJ/Brick Township), the three-time CACC Player of the Year, has been selected as a Daktronics Division II Third-Team All-American, following a vote by sports information directors at NCAA Division II institutions. Casado, who earned All-American Honorable Mention in 2007, is the only player in GCU volleyball history to be selected to an All-American team.

 

 

 

 

 

12-06-08: GCU tripped up by East Stroudsburg, 43-41 ... Foley selected to All-Tournament Team

 GCU logoEAST STROUDSBURG, PA-The GCU basketball squad concluded its appearance in the 44th Annual East Stroudsburg University tournament Saturday evening with a 43-41 defeat to the host Lady Warriors. For the second straight day, Patti Foley (Lake Grove, NY) led the Lions in scoring with 15 points, earning the senior a place on the All-Tournament Team.

 

 

12-05-08: Lions fall to Queens College in Opening Round of 44th Annual East Stroudsburg University Tournament

FOLEYEAST STROUDSBURG, PA- Georgian Court University basketball saw its two-game winning streak come to an end as the Lions fell to Queens College, 59-42, in the opening round of the 44th annual East Stroudsburg University tournament Friday afternoon.
