07-01-09: GCU's Kim Galvin Selected as CACC 2008-09 Woman of the Year
NEW HAVEN, CT - Kim Galvin (right), a recent graduate of Georgian Court University, has been honored as the 2008-09 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Woman of the Year in an announcement made by Commissioner Dan Mara. Galvin, who competed in cross country for the Lions, is now eligible for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. The award honors senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.
03-04-09: GCU XC Named to 2008 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team List
NEW ORLEANS- The Georgian Court University cross-country squad has been selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team list, which was announced today. Led by CACC All-Academic Team members, senior Kim Galvin (3.77 GPA), sophomore Heather Miara (3.87 GPA) and junior Oge Okeke (3.91), the Lions posted a team grade point average of 3.153.
01-15-09: Four GCU Lions Selected to 2008 Fall All-Academic Team
NEW HAVEN, CT- The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) has announced its All-Academic team for the 2008 fall athletic season today. Four Georgian Court University student-athletes earned a spot on this elite list, including junior soccer player Alley Abbate (Business Administration-3.69 GPA) and three cross-country runners, senior Kim Galvin (English-3.77 GPA); sophomore Heather Miara (Undecided-3.87 GPA) and junior Oge Okeke (Biology-3.91 GPA).
12-11-08: Coach Kerwin Lanz earns Elite Level 3 Certification with Published Case Study in Techniques Magazine
Georgian Court University Cross Country coach, Kerwin Lanz (right), has received his Level 3 certification from USA Track and Field in endurance. Lanz was awarded this certification having completed his paper entitled "Mental Training and Cross Country Racing...a case study". The paper was published in the November issue of 'Techniques', a highly respected coaching publication of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (UTFCCCA).
11-09-08: Lions Place Eighth at 2008 NCAA XC East Region Championship
BOSTON - The Georgian Court University cross country team finished eighth overall among 23 total teams in Sunday's 2008 NCAA Cross Country East Region Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, MA. The Lions scored 245 points in the event, securing the program's best regional finish ever. Julienne Reilly (Sr.-Wall, NJ/St. Rose) topped all GCU runners with a time of 23:56 (19th place overall). UMASS-Lowell won the East Region title with 46 points, led by senior Christina Dalomba (22:10) in the 6K.
10-25-08: In Search of Three-Peat, GCU XC Places Second at CACC Championships ... Reilly, Galvin, Musumeci, Lopez Earn All-CACC Honors
The Philadelphia University women's cross country team won its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship today at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. The Lady Rams scored 47 points in unseating 2006 and 2007 champion, Georgian Court University (61). GCU was led by senior Julienne O'Reilly (Wall, NJ/St. Rose), who finished second overall in a time of 20:15.75. Also earning All-CACC honors for the Lions were senior Kim Galvin (North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) (10th place), sophomore Jennifer Musumeci (Beechwood, NJ/Toms River South) (14th place) and junior Emilia Lopez (Union City, NJ/Union Hill) (15th place).
10/11/08: XC Earns Fifth Straight Top-3 Finish with Second Place Showing at Cabrini Invitational
The Georgian Court University cross country team finished in second place at the Cabrini Inivitational 5K in Philadelphia, PA, Saturday afternoon. For the second week in a row, Jennifer Musumeci (right) (So.-Beechwood, NJ/Toms River South) led all GCU runners to the finish line with a fifth-place overall finish (20:18.22). As a team, the Lions placed second and have now finished in the Top-3 in five straight meets.
09/27/08: Lions XC Wins NJAIAW Championships/Osprey Open
The Georgian Court University cross country team earned its first team victory of the season at the NJAIAW Championships/Osprey Open hosted by Richard Stockon College in Pomona, NJ, Saturday afternoon. Julienne Reilly (right)(Sr.-Wall, NJ/St. Rose), the CACC Female Runner of the Week for the week ending September 2nd, finished second overall with a time of 24:33.15.
9/20/08: XC Finishes 2nd in Philly Metro Invitational
PHILADELPHIA – The Georgian Court University cross country team finished in 2nd place at the Philly Metro Cross Country Invitational 5K, which was held at Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park, Saturday afternoon. Julienne Reilly (right)(Sr.-Wall, NJ/St. Rose), the CACC Female Runner of the Week for the week ending September 2nd, finished fourth overall with a time of 20:21.55.

What adjustment period? Amanda Cavallo (second right) (Fr.-Bayville, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) of the GCU cross-country squad and Kelly Lyons (first right) (Fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial), a member of the Lions' soccer team, have acclimated quite nicely to the world of Division II collegiate athletics as both have been selected as this week's CACC Rookie of the Week in their respective sports.
09/02/08: Reilly Named CACC's XC Runner of the Week
Julienne Reilly (Sr.-Wall, NJ/St. Rose) has been named the CACC Cross-Country Runner of the Week for her stellar performance at the Delaware Valley College Invitational in Doylestown, PA last Saturday. Reilly led all GCU runners in the event, placing 14th overall with a time of 25:51.74. The Lions finished fourth overall as a team in the 20-team meet.
08/15/08: GCU Cross-Country Ties for Ninth in NCAA Division II East Regional Preseason Poll
The Georgian Court University Cross Country team, coming of a season in which they won their second consecutive CACC conference title, will begin the 2008 campaign tied for ninth in the NCAA Division II East Region preseason poll, released on August 15th. Individually, Heather Miara (right) (So.-Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) concluded a stellar freshman season by winning the conference race in record time (19:23:29), earning her CACC Rookie of the Year. Julienne Reilly (Sr.-Wall, NJ/St. Rose) and Jen Musumeci (So.-Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) were the other two Lions to earn all-conference honors last season.
