09/06/08: GCU Soccer Falls to University of New Haven, 2-1

Kelly LyonsIn a very physical, yet well played and fast-paced contest, the GCU Lions dropped a heartbreaker, 2-1, to the visiting Chargers of the University of New Haven at Investors Savings Bank Field on Saturday.

 

 

 

 

09/05/08: Lions Tennis Drops Third Straight

GCU logoAfter winning their initial match of 2008 in dominating fashion last Saturday (9-0 over Molloy College), the GCU Lions tennis squad has been unable to find the win column since. GCU (1-3) dropped its third match of the week on Friday, falling to Goldey-Beacom College, 9-0, in their first CACC match of the young season.

 

09/04/08 GCU Soccer Blitzes Bloomfield, 8-0

Caitlyn Schultheis The GCU Lions soccer squad delivered a dominant performance in their first-ever game on Investors Savings Bank Field at Georgian Court University, blanking the visiting Bloomfield College Deacons, 8-0. Gina D'Ambrisi (So.-Ocean, NJ/Ocean Township), Kelly Lyons (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial), and Caitlyn Schultheis (right) (So.-Tinton Falls, NJ/Monmouth Regional) each scored two goals apiece.

 

 

 

 

09/04/08: GCU Tennis Overtaken by Ospreys of Stockton College

Grieci-2008Natalie Grieci (right) (Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) continued her stellar play this season, earning the lone team point for Georgian Court by rallying for an 0-6, 6-4, 10-5 win at third singles. Grieci is now a perfect 3-0 in singles competition in 2008 and 2-1 in doubles.

 

 

 

 

09/02/08: Reilly Named CACC's XC Runner of the Week

Julienne ReillyJulienne Reilly (Sr.-Wall, NJ/St. Rose)  has been named the CACC Cross-Country Runner of the Week for her stellar performance at the Delaware Valley College Invitational in Doylestown, PA last Saturday.  Reilly led all GCU runners in the event, placing 14th overall with a time of 25:51.74. The Lions finished fourth overall as a team in the 20-team meet.

 

 

 

 

09/02/08: Lions Stumble in First Road Tennis Match of Season

GCU logoHempstead, NY - The Adelphi University Panthers continued their success on the court with a 7-2 win over the Georgian Court University Lions (1-1). The Panthers dropped a match in both singles and doubles, but still remain perfect at 2-0 overall.

 

 

 

 

08/31/08: GCU Blanked by College of St. Rose, 2-0

Kristine EppingerWORCESTER, MA – The College of Saint Rose women’s soccer team bounced back from a season-opening loss on Friday with a 2-0 victory over Georgian Court this afternoon in the final day of the Nike Classic at Assumption College. The ninth-ranked Golden Knights (1-1) held a 30-3 margin in shots and a 13-2 edge in corner kicks to come away with their first shutout of 2008.

 

 

 

 

08/30/08: Lions Open Wellness Center with Sweep

GCU logoHome sweet home! That was the sentiment of the GCU Lions as the volleyball squad swept Southern Connecticut State University and Molloy College in the very first athletics event in the new home of the Lions, the state-of-the-art GCU Wellness Center.

 

 

8/30/08: Lions' Tennis Impressive in Season Opener

GCU logoThe GCU tennis squad could not have asked for a better start to the 2008 campaign. All eight members on the roster played a vital role in the Lions' 9-0 victory over visiting Molloy College.

08/30/08: Lions Drop Opener at Assumption, 1-0

Lindsay HammondWORCESTER, Mass. --- Freshman forward JAMI STRYCULA (Bradford, MA/Haverhill) scored the lone goal on a scramble as Assumption College opened its women's soccer season with a 1-0 non-conference win over Georgian Court University in the Assumption College Second Annual NIKE-Crowne Plaza Friendlies FRIDAY night at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
