School of Arts & Humanities
As human beings we express ourselves in numerous ways, through many cultural constructs. We communicate with and learn about each other through the exchange of language, art forms, religious beliefs, musical performances, philosophical discussions, our histories and our literature. These ways of knowing bring awareness of our common humanity, invite us to celebrate our diversity, and urge us to be responsible global citizens. The Arts and the Humanities by definition advance the Mercy values upon which this institution rests: integrity, respect, compassion, justice and service.
Grounded in creative and professional, discipline-specific and interdisciplinary courses, you are also immersed in leadership development, undergraduate research and professional presentations, internships and service learning. The result is a liberal arts experience that challenges your mind, touches your soul and lifts your spirit and an educational process in inquiry and wonder that continues for a lifetime.
Mission
The School of Arts and Humanities is a community of faculty and students who engage in scholarly, creative, and professional programs and activities that challenge the mind, touch the soul, and lift the spirit.
